This Civil War Store Card of Lacon, Illinois is ascribed to the shop of John Stanton. This token is the only issue known for this city. Stanton was the most prolific issuer of Civil War tokens in Cincinnati. His work was centered on stamp cutting and brand cutting. He hired several of the other die sinkers throughout the Civil War, which makes attributing some of his tokens, or the die sinker’s tokens a bit tricky.
