The North believed they were the guiding star to moral nation. While the war did not start over slavery, it quickly became the justification for continuing the war. With a simple Field of Stars, this Patriotic Civil War Token spoke of a new nation under the heavens. The stars represented the possibility of united beliefs given to the people by the Founding Fathers to become that one nation. If only the South could find their way to agree with the North.
