These Civil War Store Cards from Alton, Illinois are ascribed to the shop of John Stanton. Stanton  was the most prolific issuer of Civil War tokens in Cincinnati. His work was centered on stamp cutting and brand cutting. He hired several of the other die sinkers throughout the Civil War, which makes attributing some of his tokens, or the die sinker’s tokens a bit tricky.
