Patriotic Civil War Tokens

These token dies were made to look similar to the official US coinage to make it easier for people to accept them in trade. They had to have some differences from the official coinage so that the sinker would not be charged with counterfeiting. Look closely at Emil Sigel’s token (F-261.) You will see that about the only difference is in how the ribbon is tied to the base of the wreaths.
