Capped Bust Half Dollar Value Facts:

Date – Mint Rarity:

All of the dates are rare and will be worth at least $50 and up, but grades lower than about good or damaged coins cane be bought for less. Obviously rare dates and varieties are worth more than $50 and can be worth in the thousands of dollars.

Grade – Condition:

The image below is of a Capped Bust Half Dollar grading G6 but you will find them in lower grades like AG3 or even less. Many will be damaged and those are the most economical to buy just to have one in your collection or fill a hole.

Kennedy Half Dollar Value Facts:

Date – Mint Rarity:

A 1964 or 1964-D , 90% silver, Kennedy Half Dollar is worth around $10 if bought uncirculated raw, and less if it’s circulated.

A 1964 proof Kennedy Half Dollar value depends on if the proof has cameo or deep cameo contrasting bust, eagle, letters and date. If not then they a proof Kennedy can be bought for anywhere from $14 to $20 each.

The 1964 SMS (Special Mint Sets) are rare and there’s thought to be more out there, but they start in value at $3,000 each.

The 1998-S SMS is worth over $100 and was a special release.

Most non-silver Kennedy Halves are worth .50 if they’re circulated and start at a $1 if uncirulated. A premium can be had for most clad dates and mints if they’re certified and graded MS67 and up.

Grade – Condition:

All Kennedy Half Dollars must be graded by a reputable grading service to be worth a premium. You want them to grade at least MS65 and higher the better. The most valuable to date is a 1964 MS69 graded by NGC and it sold for over $10,000.

Varieties:

The 1964 Accented Hair Proof is the most popular variety of the series but there’s a few doubled dies and repunched mint marks worth a premium. You also have the 1981-S “Flat” S mint mark variety and a 1966 no FG special mint set issue. All are worth at least $30 and usually more.

Precious Metal Content:

In 2014 the US Mint issued a 24kt gold Kennedy half Dollar and they’re worth at least $1,100 each.

Walking Liberty Half Dollar Value Facts:

Date – Mint Rarity:

Common date and mint Walking Liberty Half Dollars (Walkers) can often be bought for less than $10 each in the low grades. As grade increases to AU (Almost Uncirculated) or mint state the value can jump to at least $20 and sometimes in the hundreds.

Grade – Condition:

Most Walking Liberty Half Dollar dates jump in value when they’re graded MS63 and above, although certain key dates like the 1938-D, 1921-D, 1921 and 1916-S are all worth a premium in grades lower than AU (About Uncirculated).

In VF30 (Very Fine) the dates from 1916 through 1933-S tend to jump a bit in premium since they’re more rare in this grade than VF25 and less.
